MELC in order to continued and expand its mission mandate needs sources of income. The church from its formation was a self supporting. It practice indigenous ways of resource mobilization. Some of the sources are as under.
1. Tithes : The main source of the church is one tenth of the earning of
(a) Paid worker’s of the church (b) Government Employees (c) Private Employees (d) Businessman and (e) Cultivators grain harvested annually.
Every baptized members of the church are expected to give tithes. The collected amount was submitted to the church office and in returned (10 %) Ten percent was given back to the local congregations for its maintenance.
2. Antangham : Out of the clean rice measured for one cooking, housewives set aside a handful of it each time. This is ‘antangham’. It is collected in every Sunday morning by women. The rice was sales at a low price to the congregation members and the money was submitted at the central office. This always brings considerable amount was used to promote the mission works of the church and the for cause of Christ and His kingdom.
3. Sunday Offering : It is called ‘Thawlawn’. It is collected at Sunday Worship service is another source of income. It is retained by each local congregation to meet its internal requirements.
4. Missionary Fund : This is a fund for missionary outreach. This fund is termed as “Ganmial Thaw Lawn’. It is collected from local congregations and annual conference.
5. Faith Promises : Individual make a faith promise certain amount of money which he / she can give it monthly or once in a year. This was used for mission fund.
6. Contribution from Well Wishes : This was received by the church through individuals, organizations, in and outside the church and also from National and International funding agencies who had a zeal for missionary works.
7. School Admission Fees : Another source of income of the church is from mission school admission fees.
8. Visit to the mission field : Visit to the mission field is that meeting is organized in which every one who comes for the meeting brings with him / her an amount of money, kinds etc sufficient to visit the mission field and make offer as much as they can offer.
9. Missionary Firewood: Every day, specially in the village, each family sets apart one stick of firewood for mission fund. The women groups and the youth fellowship collects them at the end of every month and the sale proceeds go to the mission fund.
10. Annual Labour Targets : This is a fund for departments maintenance. This fund is termed as ‘Thabitah’. It is collected from every baptized members. The amount varied from congregation to congregation.
